About Us

We offer creative and thoughtful interior design and architecture for post-war properties.

Our Values

  • We listen.

We know how important it is to listen to our client’s requirements, ideas, concerns and requests. This ensures that the project is led by your brief.

  • We are honest.

We believe the only route for a successful project is to have a transparent and open relationship.

  • We communicate.

We understand how poor communication can erode good relationships, so we ensure that you are kept up to date regularly so your project is a successful collaboration.

  • We aspire.

We want you to have the best home possible. So whilst we will always listen and respond to your brief, we will also offer options which might push that brief a little - and open up new opportunities which you might not have considered. This is where we can add value, and where the most interesting design occurs.

  • We commit.

We want to be with you every step of the way; ensuring that you have a friendly and experienced guide from the very first phone call, all the way through until completion.

  • We do good.

We want to ensure that the way we work, and the homes we build, improve our environment. Whether its printing on recycled paper, using reclaimed building materials, or banking with an ethical firm - we always aim to do more.

Who We Are

Century Design Studio is headed by Katharine Maclean. She is passionate about good design and offers a friendly, but no-nonsense approach to architecture. With a focus on interior design and refurbishments of post-war properties, Katharine practices what she preaches; living in an unusual 1960’s home which she is slowly restoring.

She has spent many years working on nationally important historic and listed properties, and with a masters in Building Conservation and further accreditation as an AABC Conservation Architect, she uses these skills to understand and work with buildings of all ages.

Katharine is an approachable designer, who understands the key importance of budget, and firmly believes that life changing architecture starts at home.
